Choose Your Breads

One of the best parts about creating an autumn-themed brunch is that the stores are filled to the brim with a variety of delicious fall flavors for you to choose from. If you have the time to bake an assortment of homemade breads and muffins for your guests, we both applaud and envy you. However, if you are short on time, but want to throw together an elegant brunch spread on the go, here are a few ready-made carb suggestions for your brunch board:

  • Fresh or refrigerated pumpkin or apple spice bagels***
  • Pumpkin, banana nut, or cinnamon swirl bread
  • Frozen whole grain waffles or pancakes***
  • Apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice, or banana nut muffins
  • Multigrain crackers
  • Pretzels

***Be sure to toast any frozen or refrigerated bread items before putting them on your brunch board so they do not get soggy.

Add Seasonal Fruit

Seasonal fruit adds a bit of color and sweetness to your brunch board. Some tasty options include:

  • Red and green apples (adding a couple of caramel apples gives your brunch board a fun, whimsical aesthetic)***
  • Figs
  • Pears
  • Grapes
  • Dried cranberries, raisins, and cherries

***If you choose to slice your apples before your guests arrive, brush or dip them with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Cheese Please!

A good cheese is just like a fine wine and pairs perfectly with certain foods.

  • Gouda goes well with grapes
  • Blue cheese compliments dates and raisins
  • White cheddar pairs great with apples
  • Brie works well with dried cranberries
  • Be sure to include tried and true cheeses such as mild cheddar, swiss, and Monterey Jack for guests who are less adventurous to try new flavors.

Don’t Forget The Spreads!

Your guests are sure to enjoy an assortment of delicious spreads to choose from. Some that would go well with your fall brunch include:

  • Apple butter
  • Almond butter
  • Maple syrup
  • Fig Jam
  • Cream Cheese

It’s All About The Details

It’s all the little details that your guests will remember about your brunch. Sprinkle in a few of these filler items to elevate your brunch board.

  • Ramekins filled with seeds or nuts (toasted pumpkin seeds are a huge hit)
  • Candied pecans or walnuts
  • An assortment of yogurt and chocolate covered almonds, raisins, or walnuts
  • Caramel dip for sliced apples
  • Place colorful fall leaves under dishes for a festive look
  • Add acorns, buckeyes, or other whole nuts around your board to compliment the fall look
